Solo Show

Michael Sanky is a comedian, writer, musician, and actor based in New York City.

He has trained extensively at the Upright Citizens Brigade, the Groundlings and Squirrel Comedy Theatre, studying improv, sketch, and character comedy from the industry’s finest. A fixture in the character community, you can catch him regularly performing in comedy venues across NYC. Michael has performed on character showcases such as Characters Welcome, Character Night, and Cheap Wigs. He has also hosted character shows like his monthly character mic Westlake Characters and Character Assassins, which combines the concept of a character show with elements of the TV show "The Mole." Michael’s solo show Make The Cut performed to packed and pleased audiences (stay tuned for the next performance). He is also the creator and host of Spell Checc, a spelling bee meets try-not-to-laugh challenge. You can find Michael on UCB's character and sketch house teams.

Outside of comedy, Michael is also an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, with accolades in composition, musical directing, and arranging. He has played venues including Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, Berklee Performance Center, and Tilles Center. While being a multihyphenate at heart, Michael takes pride in his writing. Whether it's crafting original pilots, late-night writer's samples, or short-form humor, he showcases a sharp wit, insightful commentary, and a unique writing voice that sets him apart.
