
Michael Sanky is a comedian, writer, musician, and actor based in New York City.
He has trained extensively at the Upright Citizens Brigade, Second City, and the Groundlings, studying improv, acting, sketch, and character comedy from the industry’s finest. A fixture in the character community, you can catch him regularly performing in comedy venues across NYC. Michael has performed on character showcases, including Characters Welcome, Just For Laughs New Faces Showcase, Character Night, and Cheap Wigs. He has also hosted character shows like his monthly character mic Westlake Characters and Character Assassins, which combines the concept of a character show with elements of the TV show "The Mole." Michael’s solo show Make The Cut performed to packed and pleased audiences (stay tuned for the next performance). He is also the creator and host of Spell Checc, a spelling bee meets try-not-to-laugh challenge. You can find Michael on UCB's character and sketch house teams.
Outside of comedy, Michael is also an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, with accolades in composition, musical directing, and arranging. He has played venues including Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, Berklee Performance Center, and Tilles Center. While being a multihyphenate at heart, Michael takes pride in his writing. Whether for the screen, stage, or in literary works, he showcases sharp wit, insightful commentary, and a unique voice that sets him apart.
